The A7 Trunk Road (Langholm) (Temporary 20mph Speed Restriction) Order 2025
The Scottish Ministers give notice that they have made the above Order under sections 2(1), 4(1) and 14(1)(b) and (4) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, which will have the effect of imposing a temporary 20mph speed restriction on that length of the A6091/A7 Melrose - Galashiels - Carlisle Trunk Road at Langholm from a point 179 metres or thereby south-eastwards of the centreline of Hallpath in a generally north direction to a point 314 metres or thereby north of the centreline of B709 Thomas Telford Road, a total distance of 1.083 kilometres or thereby.
The Order, which is required for the interest of road safety, to implement the National Strategy for 20mph and to coordinate with local authority 20mph plans on non-trunk roads, will be in operation from 28 March 2025 until 28 September 2026 and will only have effect in relation to such part or parts of the length of road as is indicated by the appropriate traffic signs.
The Order does not apply to vehicles falling within regulation 3(4) of the Road Traffic Exemptions (Special Forces) (Variation and Amendment) Regulations 2011 when used in accordance with regulation 3(5) of those Regulations, or vehicles being used in an emergency for coastguard purposes.

Statement of Compatibility
In accordance with section 23(2) of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (Incorporation) (Scotland) Act 2024 (the Act), the Scottish Ministers certify that, in their view, the A7 Trunk Road (Langholm(Temporary 20mph Speed Restriction) Order 2025 is compatible with the UNCRC requirements as defined by section 1(2) of the Act.
