The A78 Trunk Road (Skelmorlie to Largs) (Temporary 40mph Speed Restriction) Order 2023

Notice of Direction under section 15(3) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984

The Scottish Ministers have directed that, as they propose to make provision to reproduce the effect of The A78 Trunk Road (Skelmorlie to Largs) (Temporary 40mph Speed Restriction) Order 2023 (S.S.I. 2023/140) but that in consequence of the procedure required to be followed in connection with making that provision it cannot come into operation until the temporary order ceases to be in force, the temporary order shall continue in force.

The order, which was required because of the likelihood of danger to the public, was in operation from 15 May 2023. It would have expired on 15 November 2024 and will now continue in force until 15 May 2025 unless a further direction under section 15(3) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 is given, or the order is revoked or amended.

The Order does not apply to vehicles falling within regulation 3(4) of the Road Traffic Exemptions (Special Forces) (Variation and Amendment) Regulations 2011 when used in accordance with regulation 3(5) of those Regulations; or vehicles being used in an emergency for coastguard purposes.
