The A835/A893 Trunk Road (Contin) (20mph Speed Limit) Order 2025
The Scottish Ministers hereby give notice that they have made the above Order under sections 84(1)(a) and (c) and 124(1)(d) of and paragraph 27 schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
The effect of the Order is as described in The Inverness Courier, dated 24th January 2025 and the Edinburgh Gazette Issue Number 29071, dated 24th January 2025. The Order comes into force on Tuesday 25th March 2025.
A copy of the Order as made and the relevant plan may be inspected free of charge until 17th April 2025 at the offices of Transport Scotland, George House, 2nd Floor, 36 North Hanover Street, Glasgow, G1 2AD, Contin Village Stores, Contin, Strathpeffer IV14 9ES, and Post Office Counters, Morrisons Daily, The Square, Strathpeffer IV14 9DW.

Statement of Reasons
The Scottish Ministers aim to promote the safe and efficient use of the roads for which they are responsible.
The Scottish Ministers are satisfied that the introduction of a 20 mph Speed Limit for the purpose of reducing the speed of motor vehicles will be in the interests of road safety, will support the National Implementation of 20mph speed limits and will coordinate with local authorities 20mph speed restrictions on local roads.

Statement of Compatibility
The Scottish Ministers have made the following statement regarding children’s rights.
“In accordance with section 23(2) of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (Incorporation) (Scotland) Act 2024 (the Act), the Scottish Ministers certify that, in their view, the A835/A893 Trunk Road (Contin) (20mph Speed Limit) Order 2025 is compatible with the UNCRC requirements as defined by section 1(2) of the Act.”
