The M77/A77 Trunk Road (Girvan to Lendalfoot) (Temporary 40mph Speed Restriction) (No. 2) Order 2025

The Scottish Ministers give notice that they have made the above Order under sections 2(1), 4(1) and 14(1)(b) and (4) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, which will have the effect of temporarily restricting speed to 40mph on that length of the A77 Glasgow – Stranraer Trunk Road at Girvan from a point 5.2 kilometres or thereby south of Shalloch Park Roundabout in Girvan, to a point 1.94 kilometres or thereby north of the north entrance to Carleton Crescent in Lendalfoot, a distance of 1.92 kilometres or thereby. The Order, which is required because of the likelihood of danger to the public, or of serious damage to the road, which is not attributable to works, will be in operation from 12th April 2025 until 6th July 2025 and will only have effect in relation to such part or parts of the lengths of road as are indicated by the appropriate traffic signs.

No speed restriction imposed by this Order applies to vehicles falling within regulation 3(4) of the Road Traffic Exemptions (Special Forces) (Variation and Amendment) Regulations 2011 when used in accordance with regulation 3(5) of those Regulations, or vehicles being used in an emergency for coastguard purposes.

UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (Incorporation) (Scotland) Act 2024 Compatibility Consideration and Narration of Statement of Compatibility

The Scottish Ministers have made the following statement regarding children’s rights.
“In accordance with section 23(2) of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (Incorporation) (Scotland) Act 2024 (the Act), the Scottish Ministers certify that, in their view, The M77/A77 Trunk Road (Girvan to Lendalfoot) (Temporary 40mph Speed Restriction) (No. 2) Order 2025, is compatible with the UNCRC requirements as defined by section 1(2) of the Act.”
