A9 Dualling: Tomatin to Moy - Upcoming traffic management including implementation of 40mph speed limit
Road users are reminded that significant traffic management measures will be implemented on the A9 between Tomatin and Moy from Monday 10 March 2025 ahead of major construction works starting.
A temporary 40mph speed limit will be in place from Monday 10 March and is expected to remain in place until the dualling becomes operational in Spring 2028. The restriction will be enforced 24 hours a day by the implementation of temporary safety cameras to encourage compliance.
As part of implementing these restrictions, temporary traffic signals and convoy working will also be in place from 10 March for approximately 10 nights between 7:30pm and 6am from Sunday evening to Saturday morning, with no works on Saturday nights. These restrictions are required to enable the installation of temporary barriers to reduce lane width and create working space.
Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times, and public transportation links will remain active along the route, with bus stops remaining in use both northbound and southbound at Tomatin Junction. Road users should note that during the operation of these measures laybys within the project corridor will be closed to the public, with specific laybys being available to vehicles carrying large loads.
Road users are advised to approach the area with care and allow extra time for their journeys whilst these works are undertaken.
All works are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable. Please refer to the Traffic Scotland website for live updates.
