Road Safety Framework Fund
Applications to the Road Safety Framework Fund are now live with a closing date of 19th March 2025 at midnight.
The Road Safety Framework Fund is designed to promote and encourage partnership working to to assist in the delivery of the strategic actions contained in the Road Safety Framework to 2030.
All projects and activities will be considered on a case by case basis, with those being deemed the most beneficial in the delivery of the Road Safety Framework to 2030 ranked the highest.
Eligibility
The road safety framework fund is open to all road safety partners and organisations (both public and professional associations), registered charities and university departments across Scotland. Private commercial enterprise, community interest companies and not for profit businesses will be considered for funding providing that it can demonstrate that the schemes or initiatives proposed are for charitable activity and for the public benefit and meet the Road Safety Framework Fund criteria.
Funding Conditions
The conditions for a successful application are as follows:
- Evidence how your project contributes directly to the Road Safety Framework to 2030.
- Provide a clear description of the purpose and outcomes of the initiative.
- Provide clear aims, targets and key milestones.
- Evidence partnership working.
- Demonstrate sustainability post Road Safety Framework funding.
- In general, it is expected that organisations match funding 50% of the total cost of the initiative. However, there is room for negotiation if the proposed project is deemed of significant value.
- Be independently evaluated by an external evaluation company.
- Project must be of 12 month in duration to allow for a credible evaluation.
While there is no minimum amount of funding, it is recommended projects are of around £25,000 to £150,000. However, all projects and activities will be considered on a case by case basis, with those being deemed the most beneficial to the delivery of the Road Safety Framework to 2030 ranked the highest.
Please note: Road Safety Framework Fund is resource only, with infrastructure projects not being considered. Payments will be made quarterly over a 12 month period on receipt of progress reports and actual spend budget claims.
Limitations
Funding will not be issued where:
- The application is deemed to advertise or promote a product for financial gain
- Applications are of a party political nature or likely to be in breach of laws relating to equality and opportunity
- The application is deemed to be part of everyday organisational duties
- The application is already match funded with other Transport Scotland and/or Scottish Government funding streams
Assessment criteria
Funding awarded will be on the overall strength of the proposal in relation to the delivery of the Road Safety Framework 2030 and its sustainability post funding. Applicants should, therefore, consider carefully and demonstrate clearly.
Method
Officials will initially assess the applications and provide an indication to the overall strength in relation to the specified criteria before the applications are fully assessed and agreed by the governance groups of the Road Safety Framework, the Operational Partnership Group (OPG) and finally approved by the Strategic Partnership Board (SPB).
