The A9 Trunk Road (Tummel) (Temporary Prohibition on Use of Road and Temporary 30mph Speed Restriction) Order 2025

The Scottish Ministers give notice that they have made the above Order under 2(1) and 2, 4(1) and 14(1)(b) and (4) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, which will impose a 30mph speed restriction on that length of theM9/A9 Edinburgh-Stirling-Thurso Trunk Road being the northbound off slip road from the point it diverges from the  M9/A9 northbound carriageway to the point it merges with the A924 south of Pitlochry, a distance of 615m or thereby.

The Order is required to facilitate temporary speed restrictions on the A835 Trunk Road to accommodate a lane closure in order to repair a safety barrier will be in place from 3 February 2025 until 2 August 2026. Restrictions on the trunk road will be in operation between 24 hours a day as indicated by the appropriate traffic signs.

The Order does not apply to vehicles while being used in an emergency for fire service, coastguard, ambulance or police purposes or to acts done with the permission or upon the direction of a police constable in uniform, or a vehicle being used for carrying out the works.

Alternative Routes

An alternative route is not required.

UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (Incorporation) (Scotland) Act 2024 Compatibility Consideration and Narration of Statement of Compatibility

The Scottish Ministers have made the following statement regarding children’s rights.

"In accordance with section 23(2) of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (Incorporation) (Scotland) Act 2024 (the Act), the Scottish Ministers certify that, in their view, the A9 Trunk Road (Tummel) (Temporary Prohibition on Use of Road and Temporary 30mph Speed Restriction) Order 2025 is compatible with the UNCRC requirements as defined by section 1(2) of the Act.
